Beskrivelse

In view of the expanding work under the Waste and Marine Litter Programme, GRID-Arendal seeks the services of an Expert in waste and marine plastic pollution issues to increase the programme´s impact. The Expert is expected to bring a wealth of experience and skills to assist in project work as well as to effectively communicate new knowledge on various areas that include marine plastic pollution, waste management, nutrients and other topics related to the environment. The position will require good analytical and organizational skills, and a strong talent in communication. The expert will be working with a strong international team composed of people from different cultures, bringing together a broad spectrum of experiences. We work with people from across the globe in different time zones. Therefore, sometimes flexibility is required in making yourself available after working hours. The Consultant expert does not need to be stationed in Arendal. Main activities Providing technical scientific inputs into the Inter-Governmental Negotiating Committees and UNEA processes, including facilitating key national and global events Assembling training tools and providing capacity building support to selected developing countries on the INC process, and general global plastics treaty negotiations. Research, writing, editing and publishing of journal articles, books and monographs on marine plastic pollution as defined and greed with the Waste and Marine Litter Head of Programme Provide capacity building through knowledge and in person training to inform Regional and National Action Plans for Marine Litter in Africa, including: o Researching and publishing models of successful national and regional action plans o Drafting national action plans as defined by both needs and scientific research Act as lead researcher/writer for a Horizon funded source to seas project by performing the following tasks: o Participating in the yearly General Assembly of the project and contributing to the writing of the periodic technical and financial reports. o Working with project partners on the environmental risk assessment of PFAS and Tire Wear Particle pollution in Europe. o Contributing to concept and content development and reviewing drafts of the infographic and Story Map about Tire Wear Particles. Actively fund-raise for the Waste and Marine Litter programme, including forming consortiums with like-minded organisations, writing project proposals and negotiating with funding partners Any other duties as may be assigned by the Waste and Marine Litter Head of Programme, including the following: o Providing research and inputs into publications on microplastics and wastewater and anti-microbial resistance o Supporting GRID-Arendal in the preparation of communication products for the sixth United Nations Environment Assembly
